NW Tibet Cultural Association observed a vigil and a hunger strike for a whole day at Pioneer Square last Wednesday. Commissioner Leonard joined them at noon and spoke to the demonstrators. Tibet is burning with self immolations; so far about 16 people have self immolated. Tibetan people are hungry for freedom, independence and the return of the Dalai Lama. The Prime Minister of Tibet, Dr. Lobsang Sangay, asked all the Tibetans in the world to observe a vigil for Tibet last Wednesday and Portland was no exception.
