This morning, the Portland City Council recognized and welcomed the 2011 Rose Festival Royal Court, a group of young women who have been chosen, based on a number of rigorous criteria, to represent Portland around the state in connection with the Rose Festival, which starts this week. The Rose Festival will have a spectacular fireworks display on the Waterfront this Friday at 9:45 pm. Come downtown and enjoy this hundred year old Portland tradition, which kicks off with the Curtis Salgado band at 8:00 pm. Commissioner Leonard will be introducing the local blues legend and enjoying the music and fireworks.
